Latest Update from the Farm

Posted January 4, 2018

Greetings from the farm!

This is just a quick update to let everyone know that we will be providing the CSA this coming season. we are only accepting full shares, and only 30 shares for the season, so get them while they're hot! Payment is due by Jan. 15 2018, unless you have made some other arrangement with me.

We will also be growing for a new, fast food concept called "Dirt Burger" . This is a very exciting new project from which we will be using produce from the farm to create the menu. We will also be partnering with a few other local farms to provide the restaurant with the ingredients that it needs to be successful.

Dirt burger will be the "drop spot" for Des Moines customers to pick up their weekly boxes of fresh produce. the location is downtown at 4th and court avenue. Just south of pita pit, in the Randolf.

Please contact me with any questions about the CSA, or the restaurant

Discover Sun Gold Farms

Sun Gold Farms is a small family farm located in Paton, Iowa. We grow many specialty food items, and adhere strictly to organic standards. We believe that great soil and great seed equal great success.

The farm's produce comes from 100% organic seed. We do not use any chemical or GMO seed. All pest control (weeds, insects, etc.) are managed sustainably by the use of hand and some mechanical weeding, certified organic fertilizer, maintaining soil health, and crop rotation. These practices increase beneficial insect population, nutrient density, and a much more balanced ecosystem. What this means to you - flavor and integrity.

We sell "field clean" vegetables, which means everything has been rinsed clean. We do not choose to use any of the certified organic methods of washing due to breakdown of product quality.

Produce is available May through October most years, depending on our everchanging weather patterns. We sell to restaurants, institutions, specialty markets, and farmers markets.
